Other Information

Unless stipulated, the training will be taken place wholly at Y+ Xintiandi Studio.  Our studio consists of large rooms, equipped with necessary props, lockers, rest areas and shower facilities.

As students will be spending a lot of time at the studio, we highly recommend that students bring their own personal mat, water bottle, blanket (for daily morning pranayama and meditation) to make themselves comfortable and also do their part to save the natural resources.

We will hold an orientation meeting one day before the course starts at Y+ Xintiandi Studio to ensure that students know where the training will be held, to familiarize with the studio facilities and to allow students to meet one another and their teachers.  Student’s attendance is compulsory.

Regular and punctual attendance is a mandatory requirement of the course to receive final certification. 100% attendance is required to successfully complete the course or you may be ineligible to receive qualification.

If absence is required due to illness, this first needs to be detailed to the course manager in writing, stating reasons and medical note.  The classes missed will need to be made up.  Depending on length of absence, additional cost may be required.

If a student withdraws from the course within 2 months before the course commences, the deposit will not be refundable.

The balance of the course fee must reach Y+ Yoga Center 3 months prior to course commencement to secure your place in the training.  Otherwise, your place will be offered to someone on the waiting list and your deposit will be forfeited.

Ⅰ: Module Description

Pranayama class starts at 6:15 every morning.  It combines chanting, sitting meditation and basic pranayama skills.  It’s a deep journey leading you into your unknown-self by simply focusing on every breath. The Y+ Inspya team will help you to understand this ancient art, and how it can help your daily life.

On the way to becoming a professional yoga teacher, the precise alignment of the body, and knowledge of the biomechanics of every posture is essential.  Our instructors will lead the students through the key postures, such as sitting, standing, bends, twists etc to ensure that a solid foundation is established.

Yoga is a science working on human body. In the anatomy course, we combine anatomy with asana (posture) so that students will get a better understanding of the human body.  In addition students will learn how injuries could be avoided during yoga practice and hence prevent such incidents from happening to themselves or in their future classes.

Our program reaches deep into the roots of Yoga, explaining it’s history, it’s philosophy, and how these ideas can be applied in our modern world. We believe that the truth you get from a philosophy class should have a real impact and continue outside of the classroom.  Experience, feel, think… then take these ideas and apply to your practice and to your life.

Ⅱ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How proficient in yoga do I need to be to complete the teacher training?
A: The Y+ INSPYA Teacher Training courses include daily asana practice. We strongly recommend that applicants have a consistent asana practice and are relatively comfortable practicing daily.
People with a foundation in the basic and fundamental yoga postures are suited for this training. An advanced practitioner is not necessarily a person who can move deeply into advanced postures; an advanced practitioner is someone who comes to the mat with a level of maturity, a willingness to learn and an understanding of the limits of their own body.

This course is not ideally suited to people completely new to yoga and we recommend you develop your asana practice first through regular classes to learn the fundamentals of yoga basics. During the training you will deepen your understanding of the asanas while simultaneously learning how to teach.

If you have a regular yoga practice you may be more ready than you realise. We encourage you to call Y+ Yoga Center and talk to our consultant if you're uncertain of your suitability for the training.

Q: Is the training an asana intensive?
A: No, the training is not an extreme yoga asana intensive. It is designed as a fun and interactive course that is focused on achieving a holistic knowledge of yoga and gaining the skills necessary to teach yoga to others with awareness and understanding.

Q: What style of yoga is taught - hatha, iyengar, vinyasa flow or other?
A: Most of the teachers are Iyengar and hot trained. Our emphasis in asana is on posture and correct alignment rather than a particular style.
